Rand Water Student Development

Graduate Development Programme

 

For over 100 years, Rand Water has been supplying good quality drinking water to

the economic heartland of South Africa. This it has done with extraordinary dedication, reliability and professionalism and has earned the organisation international acclaim.

Rand Water is the largest water utility in South Africa, providing bulk drinking water to a population that has grown to an estimated 12 million in Gauteng, parts of the Mpumalanga, Free State and North West Provinces. Rand Water's customers include metropolitan municipalities, local authorities, mines and industries. Its commitment to supplying drinking water of the highest quality to its customers is evident in its rigorous compliance with national and international water quality standards and guidelines.

 

The Scientific Services Division of Rand Water is responsible for ensuring that Rand Water achieves water quality compliance. The Division's role can best be described as the provision of advice and services on matters such as water quality (raw and potable), process technology, environmental management, water quality marketing and education as well as water technology training of internal customers such as the Production Division, and external customers and consumers. This role is entrusted to a team of dedicated and passionate scientific experts. We are looking for like-minded graduates who would like to share in our passion for water quality.

 

The Rand Water Graduate Development Programme, the first of its kind in the water sector of South Africa, invites potential science graduates to join a world-class team of experts within its Scientific Services Division. This innovative programme is focused on developing technical expertise over a 24-month period. This will be accomplished through exposure to all areas of the business and specialised interactive projects.

 

Opportunities exist for candidates who are completing or have completed

their BSc, BSc Honours or MSc degrees (or equivalent) in:

 

•Chemistry (Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical)

•Computer Science                         •Microbiology                        •Statistics

•Botany                                    •Limnology                         •Environmental Management

•Phycology                                     •Zoology                         •Water Utilisation

 

Graduates must:

 

•Be South African citizens

•Have completed the relevant degree and be able to demonstrate a good academic record and   achievements

•Be prepared to undergo psychometric assessments.
